Hong Kong – The Pearl of the Orient

Hong Kong – The Pearl of the Orient
I landed in Hong Kong at about midnight on October 8th (CST). Although I have been up for over 24 hours, this city is AMAZING. Every time I visit Hong Kong, I am taken back by the vastness of this city. The skyline is ever changing, always growing, and never seems to end. The growth of Hong Kong is a true sign that amid the financial crisis’ seen on the new, the China economy continues to grow.
Sunny Wang, China Stock Digest – Director of China Operations, travelled with me so you will also hear from her on this trip. Sunny’s insight on the Chinese business culture will give this year’s China Investors Field Trip great insight into the heart of the Chinese people and what the growth of the economy means to the Chinese culture.

Asian Financial Forum
The rest of the members of the China Investors Field Trip Trade Delegation arrive on October 9th. Today, Sunny and I will be meeting with local government officials and attending the Asian Financial Forum. The Asian Financial Forum focuses on developments and trends in the Asian Financial market, and highlights the opportunities emerging from the strong economic growth in the China Stock Markets and other Asian markets. The AFF is the place where government leaders, institutional investors and senior executives of multinational corporations meet with industry experts to exchange intelligence on the latest shifts and trends affecting this rising region. This two-day conference is co-organized by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

Accommodations
Every year one of the most commonly asked questions is about accommodations. “Where will we be staying? Are the hotels nice in China?” I thought that I would show you the hotels where we stay. We only say in 5 star hotels during our trip. While in Hong Kong, we will stay at the Intercontinental Grand Stanford Hotel. If you click the link, you will see the pictures of this fabulous hotel. Later in the trip, I will address the second most asked question, “What kind of food do we eat while in China?”

This trip sounds very interesting. I will look into the 2009 trip.
I am interested in the trip for 2009. It would be great to see the modern China of today. So much negativity can be found on the news. I am sure that only part of what we hear is true. I think it would be great to see first hand Hong Kong and China.
